Creating Praxis Consulting understands that engaging in therapy requires both a personal and financial investment often for an extended period and is conscious of the need to provide services in a cost effective and affordable manner.
Medicare’s “Better Access” program is a Commonwealth funded initiative that offers rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. To find out if you are eligible, visit your GP who can refer you to see a psychologist for an initial 6 sessions. Eligibility is based on the diagnosis given to you by your GP and includes common problems including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, sleep disturbance and a range of clinical disorders for children, adolescents and adults.
It is a good idea to book a long consultation, as your GP needs to complete a Mental Health Treatment Plan for you to bring along to your initial consultation.

If you do not wish to visit your GP to get a referral or are not eligible under Medicare you can simply make an appointment.
If your health insurance provides cover for psychology you may receive a rebate by providing your paid invoice to your Health Insurance provider. The rebate amount and the number of sessions covered varies between different health insurance providers. Check your policy to identify the level of gap that may apply.
Our psychologist is registered to provide services under all these agencies.
Fees for reports and services requiring an organisation to be invoiced apply according to the APS Schedule of Recommended Fees + GST
Reports required by parents and schools after a comprehensive cognitive and learning assessment for a child are charged at a set price depending on the type of assessment. There will be a set number of appointments for the testing to take place. Each is to be paid for at the end of each appointment via our electronic system, Halaxy. Fees are kept to a minimum as much as possible and a fee agreement outlining the costs will be provided prior to the assessment being booked. The fee for the report can be paid by instalments or by lump sum but must be paid in full prior to the assessment sessions starting.
Bulk billing is generally not available across the profession, however at Creating Praxis Consulting we endeavour to offer a service that is accessible for all rural communities at a reasonable cost. If you are experiencing financial strain, bulk billing is considered on a case by case basis.
All fees are payable at the time of your appointment and subject to change. (Fees listed current as at 1st July 2025).
For your convenience, we can process your Medicare rebate on the spot through our booking software Halaxy and the rebate is paid directly into your account within 24 hours and in most cases on the day of service.
