ADOLESCENTS AND FAMILIES

Jeannette Fraser is a specialist child and developmental psychologist and has had a wealth of experience working with children of all ages, particularly adolescents and families when she was working with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Education and in private practice. She was instrumental some years ago in developing the BRICKS program (Building Resilience in Corangamite Kids),which has been successfully operating across the Corangamite Shire as a program aimed at increasing the leadership and resilient skills of Year 9 students. She is well trained in the clinical issues that often affect young people and that can be difficult for their families to understand, such as self-esteem, body image, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and the effects of bullying.
Effective, evidence based techniques are used with young people to build their self-confidence and provide practical ways to manage the important challenges and mental health issues during this important time in their life. Jeannette is focussed on ensuring that young people and their families have practical strategies to ensure they are thriving in this often difficult period of their lives. She is also experienced in working with families to engage children of all ages in addressing the issues that may arise during familial changes, parental separation or blended family structures. She is committed to ensuring that when children and their parents are engaged in therapeutic intervention that they enjoy the process and it is filled with fun and engaging activities while they are learning valuable techniques to alleviate the difficulties.
Dr. Seuss – Oh! The Places You’ll Go

Congratulations!

Today is your day.

You’re off to Great Places!

You’re off and away!

“On and on you will hike.

And I know you’ll hike far

And face up to your problems

Whatever they are.”
